It all seems like a foggy dream now. The channel switching, the tweeting, the performances, the home runs. What a night for sports fans and country music fans. In the clearing of the morning light, I gained some perspective and have decided that these are a few of my favorite CMA moments from last night:
Maren Morris' acceptance speech after winning the New Artist of the Year award! (forward to about 2:00)
CMA Awards 2016 - NEW ARTIST OF THE YEAR - Maren Morris Acceptance Speech
Maren Morris performing "My Church"
Can I get a HALLELUJAH?! Wow, @MarenMorris was INCREDIBLE! #CMAawards50 https://t.co/XpmHF9wGUC
@BrothersOsborne is going home with a #CMAawards50 trophy for VOCAL DUO OF THE YEAR!
And what a way to kick off the night...with a great big star studded sing-along in honor of 50 years of CMAs! It was really great to see some faces we haven't seen in quite some time.
CMA Awards 2016 - "Forever Country" Music Video
But we couldn't be happier or more proud of our Massachusetts songwriter/singer/musician extradonaire Lori McKenna of Stoughton, who took home the great honor of writing the Song Of The Year, "Humble and Kind!" While accepting her award, tears of joy overwhelmed Lori as she said, “Oh good Lord, good Lord! I have a job in this town because of this guy’s wife — Faith Hill! And Tim [McGraw] took a little prayer that I wrote for five kids … I wrote them a little prayer one day, and he took it and made this moment of it, and I thank him so much.”
The #CMAawards50 SONG OF THE YEAR winner is... "Humble and Kind" by songwriter @LoriMcKennaMA!
