Beat The Heat With These 10 Country Summer Anthems

Summer time is the right time for, well, just about anything. It requires a soundtrack for maximum enjoyment, though, and that's why we're offering these 10 tunes for your summer playlist consideration. Sunshine, cutoffs, swimsuits, rivers, beaches – we've covered it all right here.

What country fan thinks of summer without thinking of Kenny Chesney? The guy's a bonafide beach bum, after all, and he's long made a point of sharing his affection for island paradises with his fans.

This summer anthem has been all over country radio since its 2010 release, which makes good sense. "It's gonna be a long, hot summer," Keith croons. "We should be together, with your feet up on the dashboard now, singing along with the radio, it's such a beautiful sound." Couldn't have said it better ourselves!

Leave it to Mr. Detroit to dirty things up a little bit, but with a welcome dose of nostalgia. Swimming, fishing, girls, and "smokin' funny things." Why not?

The legendary country everyman digs summer as much as anyone in this mid-'90s remake from 1958, but he's really bummed at having to work late, his date blowing him off and not getting a decent summer vacation. Totally understandable.

Leave it to a couple of guys from coastal states to turn country music on its head with a whole new summer sound. That's what this one did in 2012. Roll those windows down and cruise!

Things can be just as fun in the dark as in the bright sunshine, as these guys promised us way back in 1987. "It don't matter if we sit forever and the fish don't bite," right?

The truth is not everyone can pull off a trip to the coast or Caribbean. Did you catch that Kenny and Jake? But making due with what you've got ain't all that bad. That's why no list is complete without this let's-head-down-to-the-river tune from 1992.

The now-superstar foursome delivered one of the biggest and loudest sing-longs at this year's CMA Music Festival with this one. The song became LBT's first No. 1 in 2012 and members of the band have since referred to that period as the "summer of their lives."
