Freedom, simplicity and the open road. Sound like Brantley Gilbert? If a new commercial for Apple Music is any indication, it should.

The Georgia native is the focus of the music provider’s latest commercial, which debuted over the weekend ahead of the Brantley Gilbert Brickyard 400 on NBC. The project was directed by award-winning director Anthony Mandler, who’s best known for music-related projects with artists including Jay-Z, Rihanna, Eminem, the Killers, Mary J. Blige, Lana Del Ray, Snoop Dogg and Drake.

The minute-long spot opens with the “Bottoms Up” singer standing in a field reflecting on his small-town roots. It then progresses through a countryside motorcycle ride and stop at a neighborhood cafe as Brantley listens to his favorite songs on Apple Music. “My country, my people, my music,” he says reverently at the end. “Apple Music.”

The project was outside the norm for Brantley, but one he subscribed to wholeheartedly once he understood the concept.

“I’ve never been one for commercials,” he says through his record label. “But when we started talking to the folks at Apple, they were saying, ‘We want to capture you, the way you live and the values you hold. We want people to see your world, show them what you hear and respond to. If they see you, it says everything.'”
