Thomas Rhett's much-anticipated new album Life Changes drops September 8th and reports say it's a going to be a pretty eclectic project. That's all good, but it just might make the hardest part of his job even harder.

Thomas says that picking singles just isn't his forte, you see. "Picking singles, I think is the hardest part about my job," he explains through his record label. "First of all I'm a horrible decision maker. And second of all, when it comes to like making decisions about your future and your career, it's like, terrifying. And so that's why you put such a team in place that you trust and you really need to listen to everyone's opinion as to why they think certain songs should come when."

"Craving You" ft. Maren Morris

Though it doesn't seem obvious, there are lots of considerations to be made. "I used to not believe that a song needed maybe a certain season to come out in," he continues. "I used to believe [that if] a beach song is a hit then it can be a hit in December, which is true, but there is something to be said about springtime. People don't want to feel sad in the springtime, cold has gone to hot and it's time to get after the summer. And so you know this is the tail end of summer. I just came off ["Craving You"], a song that was really thumping and up tempo, but kind of dark and edgy."

"Unforgettable"

As for Thomas' current single "Unforgettable," it was just right. "There are other songs that I want to be singles on the record too, but I think 'Unforgettable' was the perfect blend of like light, with depth, with feel-good, with pulls on your heartstrings."
