New Details Emerge In Helicopter Crash That Killed Troy Gentry
The country music world continues to mourn the sad and unexpected passing of Troy Gentry, 50.
Gentry passed away yesterday after the helicopter he was riding in crashed in Medford, New Jersey.
News of Troy Gentry’s passing was announced on the country duo’s Twitter account and quickly left the country community in shock.
At the time of the announcement, very little information was known regarding the crash.
Since then, more details have emerged pertaining to the moments leading up to the crash. However, the cause of the terrible tragedy is still under investigation.
According to CNN, first responders were made aware of a helicopter in distress that was en route to the Flying W Airport. Firefighters and medics rushed to the scene to offer aid, as the call for help indicated the helicopter was going to attempt to land.
Audio of the 9-1-1 call was published on the Blast website and indicated the helicopter had been hovering in the air after reporting a mechanical issue. The pilot was trying to wait for first responders to arrive before attempting to land.
Towards the end of the audio, the dispatcher can be heard redirected first responders to the crash scene in the field.
Upon arrival, firefighters extricated Gentry from the helicopter. He was immediately transported to the hospital by medics, but was pronounced dead a short time later.
The pilot, James Evan Robinson, was pronounced dead at the scene.
