Thomas Rhett Reflects After Tragedy Strikes The Country Community
If Troy Gentry’s death has taught us anything, it’s that the unexpected can happen at any moment.
Just one day before the helicopter he was riding in crashed into a field after mechanical failure, the country duo tweeted they were heading to Medford for a show. They asked if their fans were looking forward to seeing them perform.

It was a show that would later be canceled after news spread of the terrible tragedy.
When news of the crash made national headlines, Thomas Rhett was in the midst of traveling and performing in three different cities. Rhett, who released his third-studio album yesterday, was stunned by the realization that Gentry had been killed.
In an interview with Rare Country, Rhett said, “In the past you hear about artists or bands dying in a plane crash and you just don’t think — I mean, we have been on three planes today!” He added that a tragic incident can happen at any moment.
While Rhett admitted he didn’t know Troy very well, he was saddened to hear of the Montgomery Gentry member’s death — offering prayers to his family.
Rhett, who is married with two young daughters, was undoubtedly shaken before heading out on his next flight.
The tragic helicopter crash yesterday is a good reminder to always live life to the fullest because you never know when today will be your last day.
