Thomas Rhett Reveals The Story Behind “Unforgettable”
The second single from Thomas Rhett‘s new album Life Changes sounds like it’s all about meeting his wife Lauren. But as Thomas reveals in a new interview, that’s not the case at all.
Thomas and Lauren have actually known each other since high school, and the song is basically a product of the creative process. “[It’s] not really super personal to me and Lauren’s story,” Thomas says through is record label. “We basically kind of made up this story of this husband telling his wife ‘I remember every single detail about that night, what you were drinking, what song you were singing, what shoes you were wearing.’ [I] did not think it was going to be the second single off this project, but it is and I’m really excited about it.”
“Unforgettable”
As for how “Unforgettable” came together, “I was on the bus writing with Jesse Frasure, Ashley Gorley and Shane McAnally,” Thomas recalls. “And for some reason we were playing … Latin beat songs and I was like, ‘Ashley can you play something along these lines?’ And Ashley started playing, it was kind of this progression … And we started to do this kind of like Latin flow over the song and it basically describes this night of when a husband and wife met each other.”
