Overweight Raccoon Becomes Infuriated When Stuck in a Sewer Grate
A raccoon seemed to take the wrong entrance when he became stuck in a sewer grate.
The nighttime creature, who looks as though he ruffled through a few too many trash cans, was found angry on Thursday night. Police officers in the city of Zion, Illinois received a call to come out to the curb and save this creature.
The City of Zion Illinois Police Department’s Facebook account, theysaid “It seems like this little guy has been eating a little too well and got caught in the sewer grate.” Well, maybe Pennywise offered him a delicious deal of hot garbage. Since the raccoon was highly distressed and annoyed, the police department’s attempt to save the creature was unsuccessful. Instead, they had to call for the skills of the Zion Public Works Department. After a few attempts, the animal was freed and quickly went about his life.
Looking at the photos taken by the Zion Police Department, it looks as though he was not happy at all! We mean, we would not be happy either if we were called fat and had a bunch of giants poking us to make us free.

According to the Huffington Post, it is normal for raccoons to bulk up during this time of year. Typically, the weight we see is either an extra layer of fat or a thicker coat. Both of these new additions added to their size will make them warmer come winter months. Northern Woodlands also notes that raccoons begin severely searching for food. The website states “They will eat just about anything. Birds, eggs, small mammals, crayfish, fruit, carrion, and yes – human garbage, gardens, and poultry are all on the menu.”
So, keep an eye out for these little creatures this season. They are not being distracted by the dancing clown, just stuck!
