What do you get when you cross a blast from country music’s past with one of its biggest modern-day superstars? A super-infectious feel-good tune for the ages.

Most country fans remember David Lee Murphy for his 1995 hit “Dust On The Bottle,” which went on to become one of the most-played songs in country radio. Despite a limited presence in the limelight since, the Illinois native has remained a fixture in country music through songwriting. Credits include Jason Aldean’s “Big Green Tractor,” Jake Owen’s “Anywhere With You” and Thompson Square’s “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not,” to name a few.┬áDavid will return to the spotlight in the not-so-distant future, however, with No Zip Code, his first solo album in more than 10 years. The first single? “Everything’s Gonna Be Alight” with his superstar buddy Kenny Chesney.

“Everything’s Gonna Be Alright”

Kenny himself has enjoyed No. 1s written by David Lee Murphy, 1995’s “Living In Fast Forward” and 2010’s “Live A Little” among them. The pair even perform “Dust On The Bottle” on Kenny’s new album Live In No Shoes Nation.” You hear that song in every bar all over the country on any given night,” Kenny recently told CMT. “And that’s what I wanted this live album to represent is that heart and that connection, and so ‘Dust On The Bottle’ with David Lee Murphy had to make it.”

Indeed it was Kenny who got David Lee back in the recording studio. “I didn’t think I’d ever get out here and do this again,” David Lee recently told ABC Radio. “You focus on writing, and that’s its own kind of great. But Kenny and I got to talking, and it seemed like something worth doing. Then when we got in the studio, it felt so good, every day was more exciting than the one before.” Kenny and his longtime producer Buddy Cannon produced the upcoming project.
