Thomas Rhett’s Wife Shares Heartbreaking Images With Fans
Thomas Rhett’s wife, Lauren Akins is back in Uganda, assisting 147 Million Orphans — a charity near and dear to Lauren and Thomas’s heart.
As you know, their oldest daughter Willa Gray was an orphaned child who they adopted and brought home to the United States.
While Lauren did share a photo surrounded by smiling children who the charity is caring for, she also shared photographs of an orphan’s journey to the charity, and the heartbreaking reality of his life before he was found.
Lauren introduced her social media followers to Frances, an orphan who is about five years old. When he was found, he weighed only about 12 pounds because he was extremely malnourished. He had no one to take care of him, and no one to love him. Some of the villagers in his community would bring him small amounts of food in a bowl. The youngster would sit in the dirt, outside, exposed to all the elements each day. Beyond how he was found, Lauren said when he arrived at the orphanage, he would cry whenever anyone tried to cloth him or love on him — Because he was scared and not used to anyone caring for him.
Lauren showed several photos of Frances’ life before being brought to the center, but she also showed fans how much he is thriving now that he is healthy and being cared for. Towards the end of the post, she told her fans that there are so many other children at the center who have stories just like Frances’ and she urged people to donate to 147 Million Orphans if they are able to help.
Thank you Lauren, for providing hope and love to these children.
