Bold & Silver Shine

With sun set to shine much earlier, it’s time we prep our faces for fashions of Spring.  With that in mind, we checked in with Sal Bruinsma, Makeup Artist for Streeters, whose expertise has graced the covers of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Wall Street Journal Magazine.

What are you seeing for Spring trends?

For me two beauty trends stood out on the Spring/Summer 2018 runways:  bold, eccentric eyeliners and subtle, light reflecting accents in silver or white. Junya Watanabe, Yohji Yamamoto, Fendi and Tom Ford went for a daring, punk attitude. Blade runner meets Nina Hagen. Very strong, fearless looks. Lanvin, Roberto Cavalli, Jil Sander and JW Anderson showed a much subtler version you could easily pull off when not walking a runway. Clean lines and sharp edges, all applied with minimalist precision but for maximum effect. Thom Browne, Jeremy Scott, Christopher Kane and Anna Sui went in the opposite direction and showed delicate and ethereal beauty looks. Ranging from glowing skin sprinkled with extraterrestrial fairy dust (Thom Browne), glittering flower power-chic (Anna Sui) and clean, polished skin complemented with diamond-studded eyes for Jeremy Scott.
