L.L.Bean Terminates Company’s Legendary Return Policy
L.L.Bean lovers alike know that the company’s return policy is the stuff of dreams.
Not familiar with it? The company had a LIFETIME return policy. That’s right, lifetime. L.L.Bean guaranteed that their gear, clothing, and even the signature “Bean Boots” would last you a lifetime; and if they didn’t, you could get a replacement free of charge.
Just a few hours ago, however, the company’s CEO published a letter that the company was ditching their policy.
Why, you ask?
“Increasingly, a small, but growing number of customers has been interpreting our guarantee well beyond its original intent. Some view it as a lifetime product replacement program, expecting refunds for heavily worn products used over many years. Others seek refunds for products that have been purchased through third parties, such as at yard sales.”‘
Seems a few really can ruin it for many!
