Meet: Town Meeting, winners of the 2017 New England Music Award for Roots Act of the Year!

This tonally tight 6 piece band of brothers (literally for some) describe their sound best on their web page: "Foot stompin', hand clappin', harmony slingin' Americana /New Folk based out of New England." That was exactly my experience seeing them for the first time, after opening for David Nail at Royale in Boston, back in November. I was so impressed with their harmonies and overall musicianship, I had to invite them to be my Catch! The band is from all over New England, from Ayer, Fitchburg, Malden, Groton and Amherst and Temple New Hampshire. Three members are brothers, one is a father-in-law and the others, good friends.
Meet the Town Meeting members:
- Russ Condon- Vocals, cajon
- Luke Condon- Vocals, acoustic guitar
- Brendan "Babe" Condon- Vocals, harmonica, percussion
- Tim Cackett- Mandolin, bass, tenor guitar, acoustic/electric guitar
- Dean Adrien- Electric/acoustic guitar, vocals
- Joe "Bad News" Bradshaw- Piano, bass, guitar
Brothers Luke and Russ started the band and quickly realized they would need an electric guitar player. They recruited fold legen Dean Adreian, of Orphan and Tom Rush fame. After that, Tim was added on bass and mandolin, followed by the baby of the Condon clan, Brendan "Babe" Condon on harmonica and vocals. It didn't take long to sink in, that Time couldn't play bass and mandolin at the same time, so the added Joe Bradshaw to get the job done. No doubt about it, the combo has chemistry and a sound that is full, fresh and fascinating!
