At the time of his passing, he was 85 years old.
According to the Tennessean, his death was caused by complications related to pneumonia.
Clark passed away at his residence in Oklahoma.
The country legend was best-known for co hosting "Hee Haw" for more than two decades, in addition to being a multi-instrumentalist.
He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2009.
As a teen, he competed and won several banjo-playing championships.
In his early career, he and fellow banjo player, David "Stringbean" Akeman, would play for anyone who would listen.
He first landed on the country charts in 1963, with "Tips of My Fingers."
Clark was an inspiration to several modern-day country stars, including Brad Paisley.
