How long can a lettuce lover hold out? Well take heart, salad fans… the green you’ve been missing in your Caesar is back! The Romaine recall is nearly over! In fact, according to the FDA it is safe to eat romaine, as long as it is harvested from Florida, Arizona, Mexico or California’s Imperial Valley.
Last week, following sicknesses linked to the leafy favorite, packages were pulled from store shelves and customers were encouraged to throw any romaine away. At least 65 people in the United States and Canada were reportedly sickened by packages of the tainted lettuce, apparently associated with the Central Coast region of California. So eat up, but make sure you check the package first!
The FDA also cautions that if the package isn’t labeled, don’t chance it.
