New Details Have Just Emerged About The Crash That Killed Troy Gentry
It’s been over a year since Troy Gentry was tragically taken from us in a helicopter crash.
Now, new information has surfaced regarding the crash.
According to an article published on the Tennessean, the National Transportation Safety Board said the crash was caused by pilot error.
As you recall, the pilot also passed away in the New Jersey crash, which took place on September 8, 2017.
In the report, the National Transportation Safety Board noted that the pilot had reached out to air traffic control moments after take off and reported trouble with the engine.
More specifically, the pilot said he was unable to control engine rpm, and opted to perform an emergency landing.
While the report indicated the engine trouble was a result of a maintenance issue, Troy’s death was ultimately the result of the pilot shutting down the engine while in the air, causing the helicopter to descent uncontrollably.
The findings come after Troy’s widow, Angie, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Sikorsky Aircraft Co.
