Catch Of The Week: Savannah Smith
Meet Savannah Smith from Warwick, RI and Boston
Blame it on Disney. Savannah Smith didn’t stand a chance of living in a world that didn’t included making music. She explained, “What really brought me to music, honestly, was just my second grade self singing Disney princess songs in my living room.” The princess gig lead to a school talent show…and the point of no return.
Savannah describes her sound as “highly sarcastic pop/country, heavily coated in bright colors and glitter.” She definitely beams with bliss when performing. And there’s no doubt she finds gratification in turning her sass on. The Berklee College of Music grad also finds great joy in relating to others through her music, whether it’s for comic relief, sympathetically, or just a mutual love of song. Smith’s polished vocals are strong, yet compassionate. And her energy is infectious.

- How old when you started: 8
- Instruments played: The vocal cords and the guitar
- How would you describe your sound: Highly sarcastic pop/country heavily coated in bright colors and glitter
- Who inspires you: All of my incredible friends (who are also musicians and songwriters) inspire and challenge me beyond boundaries. Each and every one of them brings to the table a different life experience, writing style, and even genre which all help me to stay inspired. As for well known artists, my biggest inspirations have to be Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgraves, Miranda Lambert, Lorde, Ed Sheeran, and Hozier. Each and every one is such an incredible writer and artist who brings something new and powerful to the table in the music industry
- Awards/accolades: I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Vocal Performance, and my music has been featured on a few different radio stations
- All- time favorite country song: Jolene, Mama’s Broken Heart, Rainbow, and too many others to name
- Favorite country concert: TAYLOR SWIFT FEARLESS
- What songs do you like now on Country 102.5: “Rich” by Maren Morris, “Miss Me More” by Kelsea Ballerini, and literally anything Kacey Musgraves
- If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing: My initial response to this was going to be marketing, photography, and design full time, but my education in music at Berklee was what initially opened me up to these things. I guess based on what I was going to do before I chose to go to music school I probably would have been a music or language teacher
- Day Job: I work as a fraud analyst, and I run my own entertainment industry focused business for photography and digital media design called Jade
- Most proud moment: It’s really difficult to pick one, I honestly don’t feel like I have one distinctive “proud moment.” I really feel as though my proudest moments are when I release anything that I’ve worked on into the world. Whether it’s a a new song, a photoshoot I’ve designed/shot/edited, or a logo/website I’ve designed, I’m just very grateful to be able to share and showcase my art to the world. All of my art entails hard work and a piece of myself. I feel so proud and accomplished when I can finally release something after putting in a lot of hard work
- Other things you like to do: I love acting/performing in musical theater, working out, drawing, artistic photography, and makeup artistry
- Fun Facts: I can make a weird kazoo sound, I have the world’s best dog, and I have a self-proclaimed honorary doctorate in sarcasm
- Mantra: “Yes I can, and yes I will” – confidence and positivity is the very first step to any achievement or success
