Kenny Chesney on Announcing the Gillette Shows in 2020: “My Phone Lit Up!”
Kenny Chesney is coming back to New England next August, and tells Country 102.5’s Carolyn Kruse that he’s incredibly excited to return to the birthplace of No Shoes Nation.
“It’s become a touring tradition within our lives to do the last two nights at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, and it’s one of the most special two nights of my life,” said Kenny.
“It’ll be the 20th and 21st time I’ve played the home of the New England Patriots, and it’s really, really special. I can’t say that about anywhere else in the world.”
While he the last time he performed in New England was in August of 2018, he was no stranger to the region during his time off.
“I spent a lot of time in New England, I’ve got a lot of friends in the area,” he told Kruser.
“I can tell you that people would come up to me, and they didn’t even sometimes want a picture, the just wanted to say that ‘we missed you,’ and that meant so much to me.”
Now Kenny is heading back to Foxboro on August 28th and 29th of 2020, and as news spread of the two New England stops on his Chilaxification Tour, the country star’s phone blew up.
“When we announced the two shows in Boston, not only my phone lit up, but all the people that work for me and with me, their phones lit up,” said Kenny. “The moment the Foxboro shows were announced, it makes me feel really good. People care!”
