Carrie Underwood’s Burning Questions For CMA Co-hosts Reba And Dolly Parton
Carrie Underwood has been at CMA rehearsals all week with her co-hosts Reba and Dolly Parton leading up to the big show tonight (11/13) and she got to ask Dolly something she always wanted to know and hopes to ask Reba a question as well.
Carrie shared, “I actually did get to ask Dolly a question (laughs) I’ve always been wondering. I said, ‘How do you play guitar with your super long nails?’ That was a question that had always been burning into my brain ‘cause I’ll watch her play guitar on stage and I guess she’s just kind of used to it. But she says she takes them off when she is writing, and she needs to play her guitar like that. Open-tuning is another secret. She does a lot of open-tuning when she plays and when she writes, which makes total sense to me. I will need to practice my guitar playing skills with the nails on.”
Underwood hasn’t had time to grill Reba yet but hopes to ask about “How she’s managed to just juggle everything over the years. I mean, I feel like that’s something as a woman in this business I’m always trying to do, and sometimes I feel like I’m doing pretty good at it, and sometimes I feel like I’m doing a terrible job at it. But she has been doing this for so long at such a high level and having so many irons outside of the country music fire and being a mom and maintaining relationships.”
She adds, “I think I know what her answer would be, and I think she has probably had the same juggles and struggles as I have, but just to know that somebody else has been through it all and kinda feel the same way you do is comforting. So, I think that would definitely be a talking point that I would like to chat with her about and how she manages to stay sane through it all ‘cause sometimes it just gets, it gets hard, but that’s what we do, right?”
The 53rd CMA Awards will air live from Nashville tonight on ABC.
