Billy Currington celebrates his 46th birthday today.

And, in honor of one of country music's most underrated voices, I've complied a list of some of Billy's best!

But first some Billy fun facts.

Currington was born in Savannah, GA,  raised in Rincon and now calls Savannah home again. Who says you can't go home? Bill comes from a large family, with 4 sisters and 2 brothers. He was just about a year and a half old when his mother married Larry Currington , and Billy took his name.

If it weren't for failure, Currington might not be where he is now. A failed audition at Opryland in Nashville, while in high school led him to push harder, and make the move to Nashville after graduation.  Again, Billy faced odds that weren't in his favor. He took jobs in construction and as a personal trainer, before moving  back to Georgia . There he took a gig singing at a bar. But it's all about who you know, as we all know! One of his clients when he was a personal trainer contacted him to record demo tapes, and write songs. He eventually had songs that were cut by George Strait, Tracy Byrd and more. Finally, in 2003 Billy landed his record deal, signing to Mercury Records.

Billy's Best:

  1. "It Don't Hurt Like It Used To

This song was one of just a few of Billy's biggest that he co-wrote. He told me it was strange how it happened. He visited some songwriting friends, they picked up guitars and simultaneously just started strumming the same chords. The song basically wrote itself.

2. People Are Crazy

Truly, one of the all time great story songs. It's one of those songs you really listen to, the first time you hear it. You are hanging on waiting to find out what happens. And the ending has a twist. Unforgettable lyrics.

3. Let Me Down Easy

In 2010, this became Billy's 4th consecutive #1 hit. He was on a roll. The vibe was totally Currington, with a chillness and soulfulness. The aching felt authentic.

4. Good Directions

Co-written by Luke Bryan, this was Billy at his country best. The twang is real and the humor delivered in perfect timing.

5. We Are Tonight

Billy Currington put Sam Hunt on the map by recording this Sam original. It became Billy's 8th #1 and one of his biggest seller.

Honestly, you forget how MANY hits Billy has recorded, that is until you go see him in concert... and the hits keep coming. Here is a complete list, courtesy of Wikipedia:
