This Is the Coolest Thing I’ve Seen In My Entire Life… And You Could See It Tonight
I grew up in Vermont. I lived in a quiet area away from the city lights. It wasn’t that deep-woods Vermont you might be imagining, but at night you could really see the stars. I remember one night early into my high school career hanging out with my good friend Jesse in the neighborhood. We were kind of obsessed with UFO’s and all things paranormal (not much has changed on my end). Suddenly that night the sky was filled with streaks of neon green; it was like nothing I’ve ever seen in my life. Jesse and I first thought it was UFOs. No doubt we were about to meet aliens.
Then we realized it was the Northern Lights (aka aurora borealis). It was the coolest light show I have ever seen in the sky and since then I have vowed to see them again before I die. Ask my kids, they know. Well tonight may be the night in the greater Boston area.
NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center is predicting that the Northern Lights will be visible TONIGHT between the hours of 10p and 1a as an explosion of solar energy from the sun is set to slam into the Earth. Weather-permitting, of course, so let’s hope this junk moves out this evening!
If you’re a star-gazer… AT ALL… you need to check this out. If it’s half as cool as the show I saw as a teenager it’ll stick with you too.
