Vanessa Bryant Files Lawsuit Against Helicopter Operator
Vanessa Bryant is filing a lawsuit against the helicopter company called Island Express that was carrying her husband Kobe, her daughter Gigi and 7 others on board. The wrongful death suit says that the company was only allowed to fly under visual flight rules. With the severe fog on the day of the fatal flight, the pilot did not operate the helicopter under those rules. It also alleges that the pilot was negligent in 8 different ways for things like not properly assessing and monitoring the weather and not calling off the flight once he realized how cloudy it was. Also according to the lawsuit the pilot was disciplined back in 2015 for flying into an airspace with reduced visibility. She is asking for punitive damages due to pilot and the company acting recklessly and she also wants damages for “pre-impact” trauma, or the fear and terror her husband and daughter likely experienced in the moments before the actual crash as the pilot tried to get out of the fog.

As it stands right now, Harvey Weinstein faces up to 29 years in prison when sentenced on March 11th. He was found guilty of criminal sexual act for forcibly performing oral sex on former Project Runway star Mimi Haley in 2006 and raping aspiring actress Jessica Mann in 2013. He was acquitted of the top two counts of predatory sexual assault, which could have put him behind bars for life. Harvey’s lawyers said yesterday that he took his guilty verdict “like a man” but they plan to immediately appeal the jury’s findings. Until March 11th though he will be behind bars.
