Marcus Smart says he’s cleared of COVID-19 after two weeks in isolation

The global threat of the novel coronavirus became all too real in America when the NBA suspended the season. Then it hit home in New England when Celtics guard Marcus Smart announced he had tested positive for COVID-19, which as of Sunday has claimed 48 lives and infected 4,955 in Massachusetts alone.
Smart gave Celtics fans a message of hope on Sunday night, though, as he announced that he’s been cleared of the virus. It’s not surprising that a 26-year-old world-class athlete survived COVID-19, which is a much higher risk to people over 70 years old and those with underlying conditions or compromised immune systems. But the world can use every positive message it can get in a time like this, so it’s nice to see that Smart is cleared and took all the proper measures to keep himself and others safe.
“Corona Free as of two days ago. Cleared by Mass Dept of Health,” Smart tweeted. “Thanks for everyone’s thoughts and prayers and I’m doing the same for everyone that’s been effected (sic) by this. Stay safe and stay together- apart! Much love!”

Smart originally announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19 on March 19, five days after he got tested and self-quarantined. In a video message to his followers, Smart urged people to wash their hands and practice social distancing as much as possible to help prevent the spread of the virus.
I was tested 5 days ago and the results came back tonight, which were positive. Ive been self quarantined since the test, thank goodness. COVID-19 must be taken w the highest of seriousness. Unfortunately, the 2019-20 NBA season remains suspended and the longer it goes without games, the more we will wonder if it will ever resume.
