Sam Hunt releases his sophomore album Southside tomorrow (4/3) and as he shared with us, it's quite personal.

Sam told us, "I'm a little surprised myself at some of the vulnerability on the record, but, you know, people ask me about country roots and country influences and how much of that would be included on the record and a lot of times they're asking in terms of steel guitars and fiddles and production and those sorts of things... But the element that I connect to more than anything (on this record) when it comes to country is honesty and authenticity."

He continued, "I tried to lean into that lane on this record and hopefully people will connect with it. That's the thing you worry about when you to write songs from a too personal place or too honest place, that is going to be still universally relatable."

Hunt added, "I definitely went out there on a limb with this record on some songs."

Sam posted a preview of the new album on his Instagram.
