Well, that was a Good Investment
The people behind Wimbledon were smart. They bought an insurance policy for $2mil and because they cancelled the Tennis Tournament (key word is cancelled and not postponed), they are able to cash in for $141mil. The head of The England Lawn Tennis Club has been buying the same policy for the past 17 years…so I’d say the return was worth the $2mil/year for a moment like this.
The $1mil Baseball Bat
One of the baseball bats used by Lou Gehrig has a new owner, and he, or she, bought it for $1,025,00. The bat was first used by Lou during his college days at Columbia University, then he continued to use it with the Hartford Senators and earliest NY Yankees days.
Tom Brady Talks Marriage
Tom Brady was on Howard Stern when he admitted that the reason he wasn’t attending the optional practice sessions the last two years of the seasons with the Pats was because Giselle didn’t believe he was doing his part for the family. That’s why he made a big transition in his life. His family situation wasn’t great and she wasn’t satisfied with the marriage. By the way, the house that he’s renting from Derek Jeter reportedly costs between $75-100k per month to rent.
Jeopardy Has a Clue That’s Freaking People Out
Jeopardy had an interesting night. Tuesday night’s episode had a clue about a pandemic, and this episode was filmed on February 3rd and 4th, obviously before the coronavirus began. Listen to the Yale Sophomore here. Viewer tweeted after “Did anyone else get a lump in their throat when they realized ‘pandemic’ was an answer on #jeopardy tonight or just me?” and then “Jeopardy knows too much. They were ready for this pandemic two months before the US even was.”
Kylie Jenner Is Youngest Billionaire, Again.
Kylie Jenner is the world’s youngest self-made billionaire, again for the second year in a row. She’s 22 years old and because of her brand Kyle Cosmetics she is on that list again. Only two other people under the age of 30, Snap founder and the guy who came up with the payments startup Stripe. Both of them are 29.

Tori Spelling’s Husband Defending Her Again
Tori Spelling’s husband, Dean McDermott is standing by his wife after she was lit up for charging $95 for a virtual meet and greet. “I find myself having to come to wife’s defense again,” he said in a clip. “I’m really disappointed because she’s catching flak and being dragged for doing a live meet and greet. …Because it’s Tori Spelling, she gets dragged and she gets the haters coming down on her for simply doing something to entertain people, but more importantly, to provide for her family. She has time for everybody and all her fans. So, stop the dragging. Stop it. It’s ridiculous. Let people be. This is a difficult time, and we’re all trying to do our best.”
Parking Tickets Waived For Healthcare Workers
The city of Boston is giving parking ticket amnesty for health care workers who are providing critical care during the current public health emergency. So if a healthcare worker gets a parking ticket for a non-public safety reason such as overstaying a meter, the ticket will be waived upon appeal. But the city will not make exceptions for violations such a blocking a fire hydrant, sidewalk or handicap ramp. If you want to appeal a ticket, send an email to parking@boston.gov with a copy of their ticket and a copy of their hospital ID. And you have 6 months to appeal.
