Russel Dickerson is a proud father to be;  his wife Kailey is expecting the couple's first child.

The couple were married in 2013 and have been trying to conceive for almost a year now.

Russell told People, “I’ve been rocking the dad shoes for a while now. NOW they’re official! It just got to the point where we’re like, ‘Well, if it happens, it happens. It’ll happen when it does.’ It’s all God’s timing on that part. So yeah, I was completely surprised.”

He posted to Instagram this morning (4/15), "THE DAD SHOES ARE OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL! WE’RE HAVING A BABY!!"

Kailey spilled the good news to her husband on New Year’s Day, telling him that she had one more Christmas present for him after their extended family had left their home following the holiday.

He shared, “She put a stocking up on the mantel and I opened it.” Dickerson said of is was the “sweetest” surprise, revealing that his wife had gifted him with “little navy blue slippers with big white letters on them” that read, “Best Dad.”

Nancy Brooks has been working in the country music industry for almost 30 years. She has interviewed pretty much any country star you can think of.
