Rare Sighting: Blue Whale Photographed Just Off Cape Cod
Could you imagine spotting one of these while out on a boat fishing? Some would love it, I would freak out! Either way the Center for Coastal Studies’ sighting of this blue whale 13 miles east of Truro is pretty amazing. There are estimated to be only 400 to 600 Northwest Atlantic blue whales left.
According to the Center for Coastal Studies’ blue whales can grow up to 100 feet in length and weigh between 76 and 150 tons. Again, if I saw that from my fishing boat it might have ended me.
