It Feels Good

How to Get a Personalized Message on the Scoreboard at Fenway Park!

Have you ever had a dream of seeing your name in the big lights at Fenway Park? Right there in the John Hancock Centerfield score board? Well now you can, and it’s all to raise money for the Red Sox Foundation. The Red Sox Foundation has been around since 2002 and its mission is to make a difference in the lives of children, families, Veterans, and our communities in need by improving their health, education and recreational opportunities.

3-4 weeks ago the members of The Red Sox Foundation were feeling the absence of Fenway Park so they met over zoom to brainstorm about some ways they could pump some life back into the park. They’ve been hit with what many foundations have been hit with and asking questions like, “How do we stay afloat during this pandemic, raise money for the people who rely on us, and continue to make a difference in the community?”

They came up with a great idea- to allow people all over the world to put a message up on the JUMBO center field scoreboard. Who doesn’t want to mark a special occasion or tell someone you love them on a screen so big you can see it from an airplane?

For a tax-deductible donation of $50 you will receive a photo of a text message and it can be anything you want to say! For $100, you will receive messages that also includes an image of your choice. So they put that text or image up on the John Hancock scoreboard, snap a picture of it and email it back to you. This is as personal as it gets!

Bekah Salwasser, Executive Director of the Red Sox Foundation told me that they had an amazing amount of messages for mom’s on Mother’s Day. And they predict the same for Graduates for their graduations, Veterans for this weekend’s Memorial Day, and Fathers for this upcoming Father’s Day.

Of course I asked her if she’s gotten any requests for relationship breakup texts on the screen, but no there’s been a proposal. I’m actually seriously considering one for our show….Listen to Jonathan Wier and Ayla Brown on Country 102.5…the best morning show ever!

In just 3 weeks there have been over 500 requests for messages, which has immediately given over $45,000 to the foundation.

Dropkick Murphy’s will be performing on the field on May 29th and the Red Sox are very excited for that opportunity. They said it’s been in the works for about a month and there’s no better way to kick off the summer than with a band like the Dropkick Murphy’s.

Scoreboard Messages - Red Sox Foundation

Red Sox Nation, As we face this current crisis, we realize it is difficult to celebrate life's special moments, particularly when you can't leave your home or neighborhood. But, that doesn't mean we can't bring Fenway Park, and a bit of celebration, to you!
