Bourne and Sagamore Bridges to be Demolished
The Bourne and Sagamore Bridges which lead the way for so many to get to and from Cape Cod every year have been deemed “functionally obsolete” and State and federal leaders will unveil a landmark agreement today to demolish the two aging bridges.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which currently owns and maintains the 85-year-old Bourne and Sagamore Bridges, will partner with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation to plan the multi-year project to rebuild the two bridges.
It is projected to cost between $1.45 billion and $1.6 billion. Yikes.
