Hot Dog! North American Meat Institute To Donate 325,000 Dogs To Food Banks
It’s National Hot Dog Day today, July 22. Whether you dig your dog on the grill, boiled, on a skillet, with onions, ketchup, mustard or relish. Relish the fact that you are fortunate enough to be able to enjoy one with your family. They are so many people, so many families, who are struggling to get dinner on the table, everyday.
The need to feed America has become even greater during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The North American Meat Institute (NAMI) is working with Feeding America to donate more than 325,000 hot dogs to food banks across the country today.
For over 40 years the Meat Institute has celebrated National Hot Dog Day in Washington, DC, on Capitol Hill, by dishing out dogs to lawmakers and their staffs.
This year, of course, is different. And the times call for those who can to step up. So, this year’s “celebration” creates an opportunity for the meat and poultry industry to help millions of Americans who have been relying on food banks to feed their families… now more than ever because of the pandemic. Many are visiting food banks for the first time.
Here in the Boston area, NAMI has teamed with Dietz and Watson to provide the hot dogs to the Greater Boston Food Bank.
