Chipotle is Using Avocado Pits as Dye For Its New Sustainable Clothing Line
I don’t know what hits me as a stranger thought: A) that Chipotle is creating a new sustainable clothing line or B) that they’re using avocado pits to dye said clothing line. Either way – I kind of love it – and I kind of need a burrito right now.
The company announced a new “responsibly sourced” clothing and goods line yesterday – all of the T-shirts, sweatshirts and tote bags will be dyed with the food chain’s used avocado pits, which otherwise would be trashed. That’s around 300 million used avocado pits being put to good use instead of waste.
A Chipotle spokesperson says, “Commercial compost isn’t available everywhere, and that meant that a lot of avocado pits were potentially destined for landfills each year. We started brainstorming ways we could use our avocado pits for good, and natural dye was something that kept coming up.”
The new line just launched today and you can check it out RIGHT HERE.
