Garth Brooks: ‘Leave That Ugly Behind’
Garth Brooks has been taking notice of the turmoil our country has been in during the pandemic and the unrest and rioting over the death of Black people at the hands of police in the last several months and he offered a bit of advice on his Facebook Live Studio G show on Monday (8/24) night.
Garth said, “What I’ve noticed here is this has given us a chance to look at ourselves. And, I think what we’ve found [is] a lot of beautiful people. But I think we’ve also found how ugly we can be.”
He added, “So, I think we keep working on that ‘beautiful’ thing…try and leave that ‘ugly’ thing behind. But it’s going to take patience…love…everything.”
Brooks sang about the answer being love in his 1990’s video for his song “We Shall Be Free.”
Nancy Brooks has been working in the country music industry for almost 30 years. She has interviewed pretty much any country star you can think of. In the late 1990s, she started working with Dolly Parton. And yes, Nancy reports that Parton is as sweet as you would think. She loves her life in country music and has been backstage at every CMA Awards show since the late 1990s.
Many of her stories are from her one-on-one interviews. She was there at the beginning of the incredible careers of many music superstars today, including Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, and Blake Shelton, and has interviewed them multiple times throughout the years.
