Back when this pandemic first hit we all watched in awe as so many nurses, doctors, first responders and health care workers risked their own health to care for those who contracted the coronavirus. The countless hours, the fight for proper PPE, the separation from family and friends... these braves souls suffered through all of it, while still not knowing much about it at that point.

Those of us on the sidelines watched with complete respect and admiration. We showered these heroes with weekly gatherings outside our homes to clap in their honor, numerous media shout-outs and recognition of their work. At some point, we got complacent and the show of love and respect eased.

Here we are nearly a year later and the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths is at an all time high. Let's take advantage of this day to say thank you to our heroes, again, on this National Hero Day.

Let's take a look at a few of the heroes out there...
