Ina Garten and the giant cosmo!
The biggest food trend of 2020 was undoubtedly bread; specifically sourdough bread! We searched it, we baked it, we ordered it for delivery and mostly, we ate it!
Our baking habits caused a flour shortage at grocery stores.
We all delighted in DoubleTree releasing it's secret to their popular chocolate chip cookies served at their hotels (walnuts and lemon). Admittedly, I baked these beauties on several times!
According to a Boston Globe survey, back in September, 62 percent of their readers relayed they were cooking a lot more than they did before the pandemic. Banana bread was listed as a favorite, behind sourdough, plus tortillas, muffins and pretzels. Chicken was near the top of the list, with mentions of orange chicken, tarragon and schnitzel!
Cocktails? Of course, thank you. Boston.com said their readers raved about being home bartenders and mastering Tiki drinks, old fashions and sidecars
I gave homemade bloody marys a whirl in the Spring...
Other food and beverage favorites of 2020 included Dalgona coffee and frozen chicken
We are survivors, and when everything shut down, we turned on the oven and went to work. Congratulations to us all for learning a few new things and learning to save a little money while we were at it. Hopefully, these are lessons we will take with us back into the "normal."
Cheers!
