Luke Combs ‘Made It’ When He Left The ‘Cubical Office’ Behind
Luke Combs is one of the hottest artists in country music today: he was nominated twice for Entertainer of the Year in 2020 and scored several number one songs, sold millions of records and was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live in January of 2020.
Luke is a pretty easy going down to earth kind of guy and doesn’t really see himself as a superstar, but he does recall when he felt like he “made it.” He told us, “When I could pay my bills doing music and not have to do another job. That was making it for me. That was the goal, was not having to work 40 hours. Not have to do the cubicle office grind thing.”
His success began sometime in 2011 or 2012 as he says, “I was playing shows 3 or 4 nights a week and didn’t have to work and was just writing music and hanging out and to me that was the dream, you know?”
Combs didn’t know how big he would get at the time, he said, “I didn’t think that I had to be any particular thing and obviously those goals and desires to achieve things change over time, which they have now.”
