NAACP Nashville President Offers To Meet With Morgan Wallen
The fallout from Morgan Wallen getting caught on video using a racial epithet was swift with the country music industry clearly showing that there is no tolerance for using the “n-word” in any context. His record deal was suspended and he was stripped of eligibility from a number of award shows.
However, one organization that does seem to be willing to meet with Wallen is the Nashville branch of the NAACP (the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, an organization that was founded in 1909). According to local Nashville news station WSMV, NAACP Nashville branch President Sheryl Guinn said, “Because he was such a prominent celebrity and an artist here in Nashville – I mean he’s living here – we would love for him to have that conversation with us… we invite him to come and have that conversation with us – the NAACP – as to why that word is so hurtful.”
Wallen has not yet commented about the NAACP’s invitation.
