Nicole Kidman Harassed At Sydney Opera House, Keith Urban Comes To The Rescue
Nicole Kidman was attacked at the Sydney Opera House while she and Keith Urban were taking in a show called “Happy Widow.”
The Sydney Morning Herald reported that a man sitting behind the couple was upset at the fact that Nicole and Keith were on their feet for part of the performance. Urban quickly explained to the man that they were giving a standing ovation, a sign of appreciation for the show, and carried on clapping and standing.
The man then swatted Kidman with his program, prompting Urban to accuse the man of assaulting his wife. Keith then summoned his security to escort the couple and Nicole’s mom out of the audience, while Opera House security were sent in to retrieve the aggrieved opera lover.
Kidman was apparently visibly upset by the incident and the Opera House called the police. NSW Police said in a statement, “Police have been told a 53-year-old woman and a 67-year-old man were both attending the entertainment centre when an argument broke out. Officers spoke to both men and no further action was taken.”
After all the drama, Opera Australia boss Lyndon Terracini escorted the couple through back of house and out the relative safety of stage door where they graciously posed for a photograph with the show’s star Virgilio Marino despite the ordeal they had just been through.
