Dog Who Stole Unicorn Toy Gets A Fresh Start
All this pup wanted was a stuffed purple unicorn!
PEOPLE reported that animal control officers were called to a Dollar General store in North Carolina after a stray dog kept coming into the store.
“He went straight for the unicorn, the same one every time,” says Joe Newburn, a supervisor at Duplin County Animal Services.
The officer who responded to the call, Samantha Lane was impressed with the dog’s persistence and bought the $10 toy. She brought the dog to the Duplin County Animal Services center, where they named the dog Sisu after the dragon cartoon character in Disney’s Raya and the Last Dragon.
The shelter had posted a picture of Sisu and his unicorn on their Facebook page which gained a lot of attention. He spends every night curled up with his toy at the shelter. “It’s so sweet. It’s amazing. I mean, he’s obviously super smart, and even when we got him to the animal shelter, he’s been very obedient” says Newborn.
On Friday, the shelter shared that Sisu and his unicorn have an adopter and will be moving out of the shelter soon. A happy ending for a dog that just had to have a purple unicorn!
