Necco Wafers Make Their Return On Marathon Monday
Necco Wafers were originally made in 1847 in Revere by New England Confectionery Company (NECCo) and was the nation’s oldest continuously operating candy company until it ceased operation in 2018.
Spangler Candy Company bought the Necco brand and re-launched it today, on Patriot’s Day, and celebrated the re-launch by handing out Necco Chocolate Wafers for free at 2 locations on the Boston Marathon route – at mile marker 22 near Boston College and at the finish line.
Spangler Candy Company is based in Cleveland, OH and is best known for producing Dum Dums lollipops.
Welcome back Necco!!
