Catch Of The Week: Sage Ryder
Meet Sage Ryder from Hudson, NH
This past year may have taken musicians off the road, but it’s also created opportunities to delve into writing more. It’s clear 24 year old Sage Ryder has been doing exactly that; working on his craft. His music sounds like it’s been aged in a barrel and opened at just the right time, the right temperature and left to air just the right amount.
His new single, “Lost at Sea” takes us on a dreamy ride through Americana ebbs and folky flows. The music’s ethereal essence manages to allow us to levitate while still keeping us grounded enough to hear the message; a love that is lost, but hope floats.
It’s hard to imagine, after listening to the vocalist and songwriter here, that Sage was first a guitarist, and only a guitarist for many years, before he used his voice to share his stories.
Ryder is now back on the road, touring the country, sharing his music. And the road ahead looks wide open for this gifted artist.

- Now lives in: Wherever the music takes me
- Current single: “Lost At Sea”
- What lead you to music: The first time I heard my fathers band’s tape I said, “Man! That’s what I want to do!”
- How old when you started: I started loving music for as long as I can remember, but when I turned eight years old I bought my first guitar and that’s when the addiction started.
- First country song you learned: I didn’t actually start playing country music until I was nineteen and the first song that got me into it was “That’s Alright” made famous by Elvis Presley.
- Instruments played: I started off as a strictly a guitar player and a shower singer from eight to around fifteen and then I decided to start writing my own songs but I knew I couldn’t have anybody else sing my feelings for me so I became a singer.
- How would you describe your sound: I just try to make sounds that anybody can hear and listen to. Listenable I’d say. I range from anywhere from Guns N Roses to Bob Dylan, depending on the mood.
- Who inspires you: The life of Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley both inspire me just two but it can be as simple as a man with no shoes walking down the street and think “What led him there” or “What are his plans for the day.”
- Dream duet partner: I would love to write and perform a song with Eric Clapton or even jam with the Allman Brothers.
- All- time favorite country song: (or songs if you can’t name just one): I don’t really have favorite songs because it honestly changes daily but I will always love Johnny Cash’s first record.
- First country concert: Ashley McBryde
- If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing: Dreaming about being one
- Most proud moment: Recording my first record and looking at the producer and saying, “Damn! We’re at work right now!”
- Crazy thing that happened in your music career: Getting to work with my producer, Matt Squire.
- Other things you like to do: I love to fish, maybe a little too much.
- Fun facts: I only eat meat if I hunt it or catch it myself. I can solve a Rubix cube in under 45 seconds. I love to edit photographs more than taking them.
- Mantra: Only do what feels good and the rest will follow.
