What has been a tradition in our beautiful city for 144 years, came to a halt in 2020 for the first time, because of the pandemic.
The Swan Boats at the Boston Public Garden lagoon have become an unofficial launch of Spring in Boston. They have been owned and operated by the Paget family, since their initial launch in 1877 by shipbuilder and Irish immigrant Robert Paget.
Good news shipmates! Earlier today the City of Boston announced that starting May 8, the Swan Boats will once again push off from the dock at the lagoon.
The Swans are back, baby! Save me a seat.
#SwanBoats will return to the #Boston #PublicGarden next month! They did not paddle around the lagoon last year because of the pandemic, but the Paget family and the city say they can reopen this year with safety plans in place. https://t.co/4FmONsC4x4 pic.twitter.com/jAtYTeVlpV— WCVB-TV Boston (@WCVB) April 15, 2021
