Brantley Gilbert on Celebrating Memorial Day
Can you relate to Brantley Gilbert?
Memorial Day Weekend marks the unofficial start to summer. Backyard barbecues, boating on the lake and just having fun with family and friends. But the reason for Memorial Day is to honor those who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
Knowing that Brantley admits,
“I went through a phase where I was really weird about celebratin’ Memorial Day, just because I felt weird if I just went and got on a boat somewhere and just partied. I always felt like I was bein’ disrespectful.”
Luckily, Brantley has a friend who served in the military who offered his perspective about Memorial Day. His friend stated,
“We want people to have a good time. I can’t speak for everybody, but speaking for me, that’s what we fought for. A lot of what we fought for was so people have the freedom to celebrate. And we celebrate the memories of the guys and girls we fought with.”
So as a reminder for when you’re celebrating this weekend, don’t forget about the people who fought and served for you and your country.
