Black bears are pretty common in western and northern parts of Massachusetts but not so much in Southeastern Mass so recent sightings there have led to officials warning residents there.
Police in East Bridgewater, Taunton, Whitman, Hanson, and Halifax have issued warnings on social media to residents. One 2-3 year-old black bear nicknamed "Boo Boo" has been seen roaming the towns.
Residents are advised to secure their bird feeders, properly store their trash and secure their compost bins, and not leave pet food out.
