Following the Celtics elimination from the playoffs last night, we knew changes were coming. And looks like it happened sooner rather than later.
In short, Ainge has resigned. Coach Brad Stevens will take over his spot, and the Celtics are in the hunt for a new head coach. According to Sports Illustrated, Ainge is not expected to retire, and could possibly take a position with the Utah Jazz. He served as an exec with the Celts since 2003. Let’s not forget his role in helping to bring the team their 2008 championship.
Ainge’s time here with the Cs is certainly appreciated, and I’m sure I speak for most, in wishing him all the best, wherever he may land.
