East Coast to London In Just Over 3 Hours
No, the Concorde isn’t back, but supersonic travel will be by the end of this decade. United Airlines just signed a deal to bring up to 50 supersonic jets to commercial passenger flights by 2029.
Newark to London in 3.5 hours, Frankfurt, Germany in 4 hours, San Francisco to Tokyo in 6 hours. And both United and the aircraft manufacturer, Boom Supersonic, say the planes will be net-zero carbon from day one, running on 100% sustainable aviation fuel.
“At speeds twice as fast, United passengers will experience all the advantages of life lived in person, from deeper, more productive business relationships to longer, more relaxing vacations to far-off destinations,” Boom Supersonic CEO Blake Scholl said in a statement.
The Overture airliners will start to roll out in 2025, fly in 2026, and carry passengers by 2029.
