It Feels Good: In Just 24 hours, This NH Company Saved The Day…And The Dance For One Little Girl
Thanks to This New Hampshire Restoration Company a Little Girl Was Able to Dance in Her Recital
When a fire broke out at a family’s home in Bedford, NH there was a company that went above and beyond to save a few special items for a young dancer.
It all started out with someone tagging me on a Facebook post, which sent me to the Bedford, NH Fire Department’s Facebook page.
The Fire Department had written this incredibly heart- tugging post about a fire that they tried to save from the flames. They extinguished the flames, but the house was ruined. The department quickly learned that a young resident of the home had an important dance recital for the Dimensions in Dance in Manchester, NH the following day. But all of her recital dresses suffered major smoke damage.
Being someone myself who took dance classes when I was younger, I know how special these dance outfits are. And you can’t go to a store to get another one because there is no store…they’re usually all ordered online, and it takes weeks for them to arrive in the mail.
So, the Bedford Fire Department Fire Chief, Scott Hunter, reached out to a local company called Soil Away Cleaning and Restoration Services in Hookset, NH and they asked them if there was anything that could be done to save the outfits. And they had to do it in 24 hours.
Chief Operating Officer, Joshua Solloway answered the call literally and figuratively.
This girl had just lost her house. And Joshua promised her that she would at least have her dresses to wear in the dance recital the next day.
Shoutout to Cher Woods, who was primarily responsible for the cleaning and repairs. She cleaned the dresses, and then Josh’s wife drove them to the recital.
That’s when Joshua and his wife realized that they were dropping the dresses off at the SAME dance studio that their daughters also danced at. Joshua describes the moment when he put two and two together as being incredibly moving. Here’s a picture of Joshua’s daughter at the recital.
It was a very special moment. This young girl, who has to remain anonymous, danced away to an extraordinary performance of Peter Pan.
So thank you to Soil Away for literally making this girl feel beautiful and confident. We wish we were there to see her smile as she walked out on that stage in those dresses. Check out their website!
