Boston Named Best City for Single Dads in 2021
Father’s Day is coming up this weekend, and a new study has shown that some cities in the U.S. are better for single dads than others.
LawnStarter ranked 200 of the biggest U.S. cities based on 34 factors indicating single-dad-friendliness… and Boston was at the top of the list! The study looked at child care, housing affordability, uninsured rates, dad support groups, and several other things. It stated that Boston performs well in a number of metrics, but the real reason it got the number one spot is because of high marks in the Dad Protections category, thanks to generous time off and paid family-leave policies.
Two other Massachusetts cities, Springfield and Worcester, also perform well and made the top 10 list, landing at number 9 and 10. They don’t have all the same amenities as Boston has due to being smaller towns, but they do share statewide parent-friendly protections.
