Nothing fishy going on here. Just a whale of a tale.

A woman walked into the New England Aquarium last week, with ticket in hand. No big deal.

Except that the ticket was 38 years old! Rachel Carle Carle, who grew up in the Washington, D.C. area, started her master's program at Harvard last fall. On her road trip here, she stopped by her great aunt Catherine's house in New Jersey. It was there that her aunt handed her 2  tickets she's been holding on to for nearly 40 years!

Aunt Catherine had been visiting Boston nearly 38 years ago when she was given the IOU tickets by the aquarium. She had gotten to the ticket gate as the Aquarium was near closing time, and giving "late gate tickets," which is basically basically a "save it for a rainy day" ticket. On the tickets, these words were printed: "You have arrived too late to fully enjoy our facilities, this ticket is good for admission at anytime in the future." Even if the future is nearly 4 decades later?

Apparently, the NEAQ keeps it's promises.

Rachel publicly thanked the good people at the New England Aquarium in this post

By the way, the Aquarium told Rachel she could keep one ticket and they would hold on to the other one... which they proudly hung in the ticket booth.
