New Hampshire 5th Most-Patriotic State, Massachusetts Not So Much
With Fourth of July just around the corner and celebrations back in action this year, there’s a new survey on the most patriotic states in the union, and despite having a football team with the name, Massachusetts came in near the bottom at number 39.
New Hampshire rounded out the top 5, with neighbor Vermont coming in just ahead at number 4.
The top 3 were Montana, Alaska, and Maryland, in that order.
For the rest of New England, Maine was 22nd, Rhode Island was 38th, and Connecticut led the bottom 3 at #48. Only Florida and New York ranked lower.
The personal finance website WalletHub compared the 50 states across 13 key indicators of patriotism.
The data set ranged from the state’s military enlistees and veterans to the share of adults who voted in the 2020 presidential election to AmeriCorps volunteers per capita.
