Jon Hamm Filming ‘Fletch’ Reboot in Worcester and Boston This Week
Jon Hamm is in Massachusetts this week to begin filming the reboot of the popular 80s comedy, ‘Fletch.’
“Mad Men” star Jon Hamm will be around Boston and Worcester this week to begin shooting the film. It started filming in the city Monday, Hamm told Jimmy Fallon during The Tonight Show on June 25. “It’s very exciting, we all loved the movie growing up, It’s an 80s staple, and we’re going to, sort of, reboot it and update it for the 2000s,” Hamm says in the video below.
Reports confirm that shooting will take place in Worcester and Boston’s South End. Today, June 29, the crew is filming on Suffolk Street near Cicero’s Cafe from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., according to MassLive. In addition, the Worcester Telegram & Gazette reported that its news offices in the Mercantile Center were transformed into a “Hollywood version of a Boston newsroom,” set to shoot today, Tuesday, as seen in the photos below. Crews were also set to film at a local “biker bar,” as well as the Worcester Police Department. As for the South End, the Boston Herald reported that the Rutland Square Association was notified about parking restrictions for Wednesday and Thursday on West Newton Street and Columbus Avenue.
The reboot film is called “Confess, Fletch” and is based on the second book in Gregory McDonald’s 1970s mystery novels, according to Deadline. The 1985 “Fletch” film and 1989 follow-up film “Fletch Lives” were also based on these novels.
Hamm was also spotted at Fenway Park Saturday evening watching the Red Sox beat the Yankees.
